RYA SPECIALIST Short Courses

Marine Radio
VHF Short Range Certificate

The RYA Marine Radio Short Range Certificate (SRC) is the minimum qualification required to operate marine VHF radio equipment on a UK flagged vessel. This includes both fixed and handheld equipment with and without Digital Selective Calling (DSC). It is obtained by successfully completing an SRC exam conducted at an RYA Recognised Training Centre.

This course is completed in preparation for the exam, with the exam normally taking place on the same day as the course.

We are currently holding courses in conjunction with Cardigan Bay Watersports in New Quay, utilising a training room in New Quay yacht club to conduct the courses.

The course is a full days training, with students required to compete some pre-course learning before attending on the day. The maximum number of students on the course is eight in total with up to 2 students sharing a VHF Radio. All course material is included in the course fee, together with the exam fee. Students are provided with the RYA VHF Radio Handbook.
